About the Programme
World Ozone Day was celebrated on 16 September 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Zoology Lab of Aggarwal College Ballabgarh under the able guidance of Principal, Dr. C. S. Vashishat and Convenor, Dr. Priyanka Sehrawat. The programme was organized by the Eco & Energy Conservation Club in collaboration with the NSS Cell and Department of Chemistry. Faculty members of the Department of Chemistry and students of the Eco & Energy Conservation Club actively participated in the programme. The celebration was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of the ozone layer, harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, energy conservation and environmental protection. Three awareness-based activities were conducted during the programme. The first activity was an Energy Conservation Drive, in which students came forward and shared simple and practical ways to conserve energy in their daily lives and emphasized the importance of responsible energy consumption.
The second activity was an UV Awareness Presentation, delivered by two students, which highlighted the importance of the ozone layer, the harmful effects of UV radiation, and the need to protect the ozone layer. The third activity was an “Each One, Teach One” Drive, through which students were encouraged to spread awareness beyond the college campus. Each student was instructed to educate at least one person, such as a family member, friend, neighbour or any other person, about the ozone layer, its importance, harmful UV radiation and ways to contribute towards environmental protection. Students were also asked to take a photograph with the person they educated as a record of the activity and submit it the following day.
