The Political Science programme at the undergraduate level provides students with a structured understanding of political systems, institutions, ideas, and global affairs. The curriculum introduces students to the functioning of the Indian political system, constitutional principles, political thought, and international relations, while also developing analytical and critical thinking skills.
The programme covers core areas such as Comparative Politics, which examines political systems across countries; Indian Government and Politics, focusing on political institutions, processes, and public policy; Indian Constitution, with emphasis on constitutional values, rights, duties, and governance; Political Theory, which explores key political ideas and thinkers; understanding Gandhi, highlighting ethical politics and non-violent movements; and International Organisations.
Through these subjects, students gain a balanced understanding of both national and global political dynamics.
The study of Political Science equips students with analytical, research, and communication skills applicable to careers in civil services, public administration, teaching, research, journalism, policy analysis, non-governmental organisations, and international institutions.
It also provides a strong academic base for higher education in political science, public policy, and international relations. The discipline offers sustained relevance and scope for professional growth in both national and international contexts.
