International Year of Millets

Organized by Aggarwal College

Aggarwal College celebrated the International Year of Millets with the objective of spreading awareness about the nutritional, environmental, and economic benefits of millet crops. The initiative highlighted India’s global leadership in promoting millets as a sustainable and healthy food choice for the future.

A series of awareness activities were organized, including millet-based food exhibitions, poster-making competitions, nutrition talks, and live cooking demonstrations. Students actively participated by preparing and showcasing dishes such as ragi laddoos, bajra khichdi, jowar rotis, and millet-based snacks.

Resource persons and faculty members emphasized the health benefits of millets, highlighting their richness in protein, dietary fiber, and essential minerals. The discussions also focused on the role of millets in preventing lifestyle diseases, supporting gluten-free diets, and addressing global food security challenges.

Environmental aspects of millet cultivation were also discussed, explaining how millets require less water, fewer chemical inputs, and are more resilient to climate change. Informational charts and infographics helped students understand the global importance of millet farming and its benefits for farmers.

The celebration successfully blended education, sustainability, and traditional knowledge, leaving a lasting impression on students and staff. Through such initiatives, Aggarwal College continues to promote health-conscious and eco-friendly practices within the academic community.
